A pride of 60 lions will be guiding visitors through Windsor's historic streets and landmarks later this summer - in honour of Queen Victoria birthday.
The life size fibreglass lions are being transformed by the world's leading contemporary artists and designers to create a magnificent public art display across the town to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria.
Last week 10 of the sculptures were unveiled at the Royal Windsor pub in Datchet Road.
English sculptor, jeweller and performance artist Andrew Logan revealed his completed lion, while Russian artist and designer Anna Kompaniets revealed the inspiration for her lion and made a crown with local schoolchildren.
Children's illustrator Beccy Blake painted her lion during the event.
The lions will be on display in Windsor between August 10 and October 27, before a special auction is held on November 22.
Profits will be donated to charities including the Thames Hospice, Look Good Feel Better, The Lions Club of Windsor and the wildlife charity Tusk, to support lion conservation in Africa.
Lisa Todd, the event's Creative Director says, “We are over the moon that the Lions of Windsor 2019 sculpture trail has attracted some of the most famous names in art and design from around the world and encouraged new and amateur artists to send us their submissions. Windsor is already a tourist hot spot and we are confident that the beautifully decorated lion sculptures will make Windsor and the surrounding area the destination event of the summer for residents, visitors and tourists."
