A BAND from a Carlisle school is on a high note after it won a competition organised by the Kendal Calling music festival.

Left Hand Side, from Lime House School at Dalston, won band equipment worth £1,000.

Charlotte Waywell, from the school, said: “They were against some tough competition from other local schools.

“Luckily they attracted plenty of support and gained enough votes to win a prize consisting of band equipment worth £1,000.”

The equipment will allow all of the school’s budding musicians to find their inner Rock Star.

Ms Waywell said: “We’d like to say well done and a big thank you to the band members: Agripina, Kimberly, Link, Tara and Julianne.

“And thank you to Kendal Calling and everyone who voted.”

Kimberly Littler, from the band, said: “Being able to take part in the competition to win £1,000 worth of band equipment was a memorable experience, let alone being one of the four schools to win it.

“In the band, The Left Hand Side (credits to Moses for the name), there are five members: Link with the bass, Julianne who plays the guitar, Tara playing the keyboard/guitar, and myself and Agripina singing.

“We really enjoyed recording the song, as well as having fun with the photos, which gave the finishing touches to the video.

“The video really outlined the effort that we put into making it.

“It is also important we thank Mr Tuer for editing the video, as well as our incredible music teacher Mrs Bills. Without her, the band would not have been

put together in the first place.

“We are also very grateful for everyone who voted for us, as we couldn’t have won without the amazing support.”
