Firefighters have rescued a woman from her maisonette home in Wetsmead, Clewer.

They had to force entry to the house yesterday afternoon after receiving reports of a fire.

Crews from Windsor, Slough, Langley and Maidenhead and an officer were sent to the scene.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and found a small fire in the ground floor with smoke filling the property. They rescued a woman who was found on the lounge sofa in a 'semi-responsive' state and extinguished the fire using one hose reel.

Station Manager, Luke Coleman, said: “Our first crew was on the scene in just over five minutes and acted rapidly to prevent the fire from developing and posing a real risk to the occupant. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
