AS PRESIDENT of the Llanidloes Rotary Club in 2018/19 I have decided to support a charity which is very close to my and many others hearts – The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

With the help of a small and enthusiastic committee and the support of Llanidloes Rotary Club we have decided to hold a unique event for the town which we hope will help us raise more than £10,000 for the charity.

The event is an Auction of Promises to be held at Llanidloes Rugby Club on the evening of September 13, 2019.

Andrew Turner, of Morris Marshall and Pool, has kindly agreed to be our auctioneer on the night.

We are hoping that individuals, groups and local businesses will help us by donating a 'promise' that we can auction off on the night.

A number of people have already started the ball rolling by committing to donate: A two week holiday in Spain, two weeks' holiday in Tenerife, one week's break in a self-catering cottage, clay pigeon shooting for four people, sporting jackets and even a free will!

We are looking for as many auction prizes as possible and are calling on County Times readers, individuals and businesses, to donate 'promises' to be auctioned on the night.

If possible, we would like readers to fill in the pledge form (see right) if they would like to offer a 'promise' to be auctioned.

Guide dogs for the Blind is a wonderful organisation who, together with Llanidloes Rotary Club, are supporting this event.

All the money raised (every penny) will go to help train a guide dog to be used by a blind person in our community.
