POLICE have confirmed that the sexual assault of a 17-year-old in Wokingham this month 'did not take place.'
Following the report of a the assault on Thursday, June 6, Thames Valley Police launched an investigation.
It was reported that the teenager was sexually assaulted in Denton Road at around 4pm on Wednesday June 5.
A thorough investigation has taken place and a full review of the evidence, including CCTV, has been carried out.
Police have confirmed that the evidence gathered indicates that the reported assault did not take place, and police are no longer appealing for further information.
Investigation officer detective constable Paul Bentley, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: "Firstly, I would like to take this opportunities to thank the public and local community for coming forward with information to support this investigation.
"We understand that incidents of this nature cause community concern and every detail we receive, with any witness appeal, helps us to establish what has happened and provides vital information to help us to fully investigate reports.
"Incidents of this nature are treated extremely seriously and will be thoroughly investigated, we would always encourage people with any information to come forward to assist with this process."
