Over 100 entries have been received in the competition to find a name for the new bridge at Taplow Riverside.
The bridge was unveiled by Maidenhead's MP former Prime Minister Theresa May last November. It forms part of the design for Berkeley Homes’ Taplow Riverside development and offers a pedestrian access to the Thames Path for the first time, connecting the development to nearby Maidenhead.
It was designed by specialist Martin Knight and won the Chilterns Buildings Design Award for 2019.
Members of the community were invited to submit suggestions to name the new bridge and more than 100 ideas were received.
The selection process has now reached its final stage - the three most popular options being Taplow Bridge, Knights Bridge, and Boulters Footbridge
Now the public can have the final say as to which is chosen.
Benjamin Ivey, Sales and Marketing Director at Berkeley Homes (Oxford & Chiltern), said: “We’re very proud that appreciation for Taplow’s iconic new bridge has been reflected in the number of name submissions we received, and we look forward to revealing the new name to the local community in September. We are delighted to have been able to provide a much-needed bridge, which now allows local residents to fully enjoy Thameside walks and walking access into Maidenhead for the first time.”
To vote for your favourite name please email taplowriverside@berkeleygroup.co.uk with your suggestions. Entries must be submitted before August 30 and the name will be announced in September.
