A dedicated team from Wraysbury’s Drain Restoration Action Group met under the shadow of the village's iconic Windmill on the Green on Sunday at 9am.

Their aim? To complete phase two of cleaning up the drain at Wraysbury Brook - a month after completing the first phase - and to clean up behind the village tennis courts and Windmill all the way to the Splash area.

The group of 12 gave themselves three hours. After their briefing by Jenny Strange, one of the co founders of DRAG, they set off with wheelbarrow, shovels, rakes and chainsaws to remove the thick overgrown vegetation which was growing in the drain.

When the work was over tea and snacks were provided for the hard working volunteers, enjoyed as they sat by the cleaned up drain.

There is still a lot of work required and plans are in place for the next stage of the restoration.

Villagers unable to assist on Sunday have already offered to volunteer then.
