Windsor Morris will be dancing its way through the town this Saturday.

This female team of dancers was founded in 1974 and has gone on to perform at pubs, shopping centres, fetes, festivals and other events around the country. Invitations from overseas have enabled the team to promote this aspect of English heritage as far afield as Jamaica, Canada, the USA, France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.

They will be closer at home to Saturday, dancing in Peascod Street outside Caffe Nero at 11am, the Two Brewers in Park Street at 12.15pm, the Boatman, Thames Side at 2.30pm and Windsor and Eton Bridge at 3.30pm.

It has been an amazing year for Windsor Morris. They made their second TV appearance of the year on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch back in July. While in August, they performed at the prestigious Sidmouth Folk Festival, a glorious week of folk music and dance on the south Devon coast.

They will be joined in Windsor on Saturday by Chiltern Hundreds Clog Morris, a mixed team who enjoy performing dances from the industrial North West of England and Traditional Bampton Morris Dancers whose Morris tradition in their village has an unbroken history stretching back centuries.

If you would like to have a go at Morris dancing, Windsor Morris are running free taster sessions, 8pm to 10pm on Wednesdays, September 18 and 25 and October 2 at Gardeners Hall, St Leonards Road, Windsor. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and comfortable shoes. Contact
