The 23rd Windsor Lions Annual Swimathon takes place at the Leisure Centre in Stovell Road on Sunday, October 13 - and there is still time to take part.

Already 40 teams have entered but there is room for 20 more.

The event is designed so that teams can raise funds for their favourite charities. Team members have an hour to cover as many laps as possible in relay and the poolside is invariably covered Over the years organisations, clubs and youth groups have all produced teams ready to take part in the big splash - the borough usually produces its own 'mayor's team' to have a go.

Over the years the Swimathon has raised more than £185,000 for schools, sports clubs, service organisations, youth groups, charity clubs and groups.

Lions ex-president Diane Purchase said: "The Windsor Lions organise and staff the whole event so there is nothing else for the teams to do other than find the swimmers and attract sponsors – and of course swim on the day! Anyone can swim – it’s not just for elite swimmers. The best news of all is that teams get to keep 100 per cent of the sponsorship they attract. We are aiming for a best-ever Big Splash."
