Former MP Fiona Mactaggart was the guest when members of Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead Soroptimists held their autumn meeting.

Miss Mactaggart, who represented Slough at Westminster, spoke about the work of the Fawcett Society which she chairs and which is a leading UK charity that campaigns for gender equality and women's rights.

The Soroptimists Autumn Quiz will be held on Friday, November 1 at the Spencer Denney Centre in Park Corner, Windsor starting at 7.30pm. Tickets include supper £12 each. To book and for more information contact sandra.bond@outlook.com.

The Soroptimists will be selling jewellery on their stall at the Combined Charities Fair to be held in Maidenhead Town Hall on Saturday, November 9 from 10am to 4pm.

The Soroptimist's chairman Jackie Paling has just returned from the International Conference held in Kuala Lumpur which was opened by the Queen of Malaysia. Topics covered by speakers included Climate Change, Violence against women, Science Technology and STEM (Start Them Early).

The Soroptimists are a women's social organisation that meet socially and raise money for good causes.
