Extended 'stop and search' powers reintroduced in Slough yesterday have been renewed - and will now run until tomorrow.
The return of Section 60 on Tuesday enabling police to stop and search without needing to have 'reasonable suspicion' came only four days after it was discontinued last Friday after a whole week.
Police have not indicated if it will be renewed again when it expires tomorrow at 12.30pm.
The powers are only granted for 24 hour periods and were renewed on a daily basis between Friday, September 27 and October 4.
Police have not indicated if the renewal today of the powers reintroduced yesterday means another week of the searches but insist they are necessary to ensure public safety.
