A FLOOD-PRONE retail park is finally in the process of being fixed.

Parts of Wycombe Retail Park, along Ryemead Way, get waterlogged whenever it rains – forcing drivers to crawl through the puddles and shoppers to wade through the water to get to their vehicles.

Even when it is not raining, the brickwork moves as vehicles drive over it and the section of the car park closest to Argos and Wickes is the worst affected.

Shoppers also said they had tripped up over loose cobble stones.

Work to fix major drainage issues was originally tipped to start in May - but after delays, it has finally begun.

While the floods are being fixed, it means a number of parking spaces are out of action.

At the moment, the whole row of spaces in front of Argos has been dug up.

A spokesman for M&G Real Estate, the company that manages the car park, said the work is expected to finish before the end of the year.

They had initially hoped that contractors would be on site in mid-March, but that was then delayed until May, and then again until this month.

They said: “We are on site dealing with the legacy draining issues and are undertaking an initial phase of drainage and car park works that we are confident will resolve the draining problems.

“Works are scheduled to complete at the end of December.”
