A LEWIS Hamilton superfan has had his back dedicated to the six-time world champion.

Robert Hogan, known as Budgie, has always been a fan of Mr Hamilton – who was crowned the champion of Formula 1 on Sunday, for the third year in a row – so decided to get some body art inspired by him.

The lorry driver from Didcot started the collection of tattoos last summer, enlisting the help of tattoo artist Ladislav Hacel at his studio to help transform the idea into reality.

Mr Hogan said the tattoo, which is across his back – the largest canvas on the body – took more than a year of sessions from start to finish.

He said: "It's all been done by him in Didcot this year and it's just been finished.

"I got it done because me and my son are big fans of his.

"I've always followed F1, since I was little.

"I'm actually a big fan of them all – but I liked Lewis Hamilton from the beginning from when he was driving go-carts."

He said he's been part of the action after transporting some of the Formula 1 racing cars home on the back of his lorry after a race.

He added: "It was quite painful to get done, but it's mainly the details that took a lot of time.

"Altogether it was around 14-months of sessions."

The tattoo artist, who owns Alone In The Dark Ink added: "It's been put together by me, all the pieces and I tattooed it onto his back. I don't count the time but it must have taken around 50 hours."
