An army disposal unit has carried out two controlled explosions in Park Lane, Horton after suspicious items were found near the lakes there yesterday at about 4.25pm.
Police were joined by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and conducted the explosions as a 'precaution' last night, although the items found are being described as 'non-viable'.
A cordon remains in place while further assessment and searches continue.
The items are in a remote location and there is no known wider threat to the local community.
But police are asking the public to respect the cordon and to allow officers to continue their investigation.
