TWO teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man in his 30s was stabbed last night.

Police said it happened in Eddleston Way, Tilehurst, at around 8.50pm.

The force said the victim was rushed to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. 

Thames Valley Police have said two 14-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are both currently in police custody. 

Officers attended the scene with South Central Ambulance Service last night and found the man in his 30s who had wounds consistent to that of being stabbed.

It is believed he was assaulted by two suspects, who may have left the scene on bicycles.

There will be an increase in police patrols in the area which is close to a Ranikhet Academy on Eddleston Way.

It is not known whereabouts on this road the attack happened.

Police are appealing for the public's help to anyone who may have seen what happened and could assist with the investigation.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Marc Skinner, of Reading police station, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this incident, during which a man sustained wounds consistent with having been stabbed.

“It happened in a public area at a time where I believe it’s likely there would be witnesses to the incident. If anyone saw or heard this incident then please get in touch with police.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Turton, of Reading police station, said: “I appreciated that this incident is a concerning one for the public and the community.

“In light of this we are stepping up patrols in the area to provide reassurance and there will be a visible police presence while the investigation continues.
