The Windsor Yards shopping centre has teamed up with the Baby Bank charity - to help give children the best possible start in life.

The Baby Bank was set up by two mums in 2015 to provide necessities to families in need of additional support.

Windsor Yards is asking shoppers to donate new selection boxes, pyjamas for children aged from two to 16 years, along with slippers, socks, books and pencil cases. Visitors are asked to deliver their offerings to the till point at the shopping centre’s Fat Face store from now until Sunday, December 8.

Robert Gramson, centre manager at Windsor Yards, said: “When we heard about the amazing work of The Baby Bank, we wanted to show our appreciation for the team’s incredible kindness towards those with much less.

“For the vast majority of us, the festive period is one of joy, celebration and togetherness but unfortunately this isn’t the case for everyone.

“We are turning to the public for additional help in bringing smiles to people in our town who are dealing with challenging situations.

The Baby Bank offers assistance to people experiencing poverty, domestic violence, homelessness or temporary housing, teenage pregnancy, as well supporting refugees, plus victims of fire and flooding.

Rebecca Mistry, co-founder of The Baby Bank, said: “We are delighted that Windsor Yards is supporting our appeal. Whilst Christmas is a happy time for most, it can add extra pressure and anxiety on families who are struggling financially.

“Last Christmas we provided 400 pyjama packs to families alongside 160 referrals and hope to surpass that number this year.”
