A DRUG dealer caught with a stash of cannabis has been spared jail.

Paul Woodhall appeared at Oxford Crown Court for sentencing yesterday after admitting one count of possession with intent to supply the class B drug.

The 46-year-old of St Mary's, Wantage, was spared jail after a court judge decided to give him a final chance.

Another woman concerned in the case Rachel Dore, had her case dropped against her, on account of the Crown Prosecution Service offering 'no evidence.'

Outlining the case yesterday prosecutor Cathy Olliver said officers went to Woodhall's address suspecting illegal drug activity at 10.30am on September 17 last year.

Both Woodhall and Ms Dore - who does not live at the address - were inside.

On searching the home officers discovered a cache of cannabis made up of 11 wraps of £10 deals, and four wraps of £20 deals.

The total haul of drugs weighed 16.26g and the value if sold on the street was recorded as £110.

Evidence of drug dealing was also found on a mobile phone as were large quantities of cash.

The court also heard that Woodhall has a number of previous convictions, made up of 28 convictions for 44 offences.

In mitigation at yesterday's hearing defence barrister Susan Wright said that her client had made efforts to tackle his drug misuse problems and had been engaging with local substance misuse charity Turning Point.

Sentencing, Judge Nigel Daly ordered at nine-month jail term, suspended for two years.

Woodhall was also made subject to a community order to include 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days and participation in the Thinking Skills programme.

Judge Daly told him: "Don't think you will get another chance if you breach it, you won't, this is your chance."
