A four-year-old from Marlow who’s father is serving overseas with the armed forces was treated to a festive experience of a lifetime at Lapland UK, thanks to a military children’s charity.

Little Troopers helped organise the day for Isaac Goodwin, who enjoyed a day at Lapland UK, where he made toys in the elves’ workshop, explored the enchanted forest and met Father Christmas.

The event, which is now in its fifth year, was held to bring festive cheer to children who will be separated from their parents due to overseas deployments and operations.

Five hundred families entered to win tickets to the exclusive event, with 19 lucky youngsters being selected for the festive experience.

Helen Goodwin, Isaac’s mother, said: “Isaac’s Dad is deployed from the end of August to the beginning of March 2020.

"We can't be sure when he will return for R&R due to the uncertainty of flights and work responsibilities, so we can't get Isaac too excited as to when his Dad will be back.

“Isaac has obviously been really missing his Dad and it’s especially hard at Christmas when we would usually do so many things as a family.

"That’s why we were delighted to win tickets to Lapland. It’s been such a magical experience and it’s something we will remember forever.”

Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, added: “Christmas is all about family time and making memories, which why it’s a particularly difficult time of year for any British Armed Forces families who have someone serving away.

“The number of entries we’ve had this year just goes to show how many military families are still separated from their loved ones by active service. That’s why we’re so grateful to LaplandUK for giving these military families the ultimate Christmas experience.
