A care home in Windsor celebrated its first birthday in style with the local community.

Care UK’s Mountbatten Grange, on Helston Lane, opened its doors for a special birthday bash a year after it welcomed the first residents.

Guests had the opportunity to dance and tap their feet to live entertainment from Heidi, and were treated to a delicious birthday cake specially prepared by Mountbatten Grange’s chefs.

Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: “It was wonderful to see so many members of the local community joining us to toast our special milestone. The whole team worked hard to organise the event, and I am delighted to say that their efforts were rewarded – our birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who celebrated our first birthday with us, and for helping to make the day extra special.

“It’s been a busy twelve months. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisations, and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Mountbatten Grange. We’re excited to see what’s in store for the next year and beyond!”

The care home boasts 72 ensuite bedrooms and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities with its own cinema, hair salon and café.

The managers have packed quite a lot of things in since it opened a year ago. Residents have enjoyed visits by friendly chihuahua dogs as well as members of the Feathers and Furs Falconry Centre who lead a ‘show and tell’ workshop with residents who were able to handle the feathered visitors.
