Free baby and toddler music classes are being launched in Dedworth this month - thanks to an ambitious crowdfunding appeal.

The appeal was launched by Berkshire Maestros, the children's charity which already offers musical opportunity to youngsters across Berkshire working closely with schools.

But its new crowdfund scheme aims to widen its reach by funding baby and toddler sessions free of charge in 10 locations across Berkshire from January to March.

A baby and toddler music class will start at All Saints Church in Dedworth Road, Windsor every Friday through to the end of March - from 9.45am to 10.30am for 0 to one-year-olds and from 10.40am and 11.25am for one to three-year-olds, accompanied by their grown-ups of course.

It is free. All you have to do is register on www.berkshiremaestros.org.uk/community

Dawn Wren, chief executive for Berkshire Maestros, said the new scheme is one of the biggest and most ambitious projects the charity has ever undertaken.

She said: "Music making should start from birth and we hope this opportunity will supply many parents with an outlet to immerse their children in a weekly music session and provide the foundations for a lifelong love of music."

Children and their grown-ups will get the chance to sing fun action songs, play percussion instruments and move with colourful scarfs.

Berkshire Maestros already has a venue at the Windsor Music Centre adjoining Dedworth Middle School. Its crowdfund plan aims to raise £17,000 to fund the 10 new 'baby and toddler' classes. It has already received £12,000 in donations - Windsor and Eton Rotary Club being among the donors.
