Plans to build a new squash court at Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Pococks Lane have been dashed - after planning councillors blocked them.

Members of the Royal Borough's Windsor Area Development Management Panel met on Wednesday and accepted the advice of their officers that they should say no.

The athletics centre has been extended in the past. But an officers' report said that the proposed new extension although only 7.5metres tall was set so far away from the main building it would it would have a strong visual impact on a Green Belt site.

There were also concerns that the site is in the flood zone and that adding a new building might add to potential problems if water levels started to build up.
