Police closed off an area in Reading over a fear for welfare incident this afternoon.

Thames Valley Police teams in Bracknell and Wokingham warned residents to stay away from the area.

Numerous police officers, some with riot shields, were scrambled to the scene.

Bracknell News:

A cordon was put in place in Tabby Drive near Three Mile Cross but has since been lifted.

The force said nobody has been injured and there is no risk to the wider public.

TVP Reading tweeted shortly before 4pm, it said: "A fear for welfare incident in Tabby Drive, Three Mile Cross, has been resolved safely.

"This was an isolated incident and the cordon has now been removed. Thank you for your patience and co-operation."

The force has since also confirmed one man, aged 47, from Reading, was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and is in police custody.
