A MUSIC teacher at an Oxford school who sexually abused a pupil in a car at Thorpe Park and at his home has been spared jail.

Stuart Hubble was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court today for the 'wholly, utterly inappropriate' relationship with the student.

The court heard how the 50-year-old of Lark Rise, Brackley, 'begged' his victim for sex and 'made her feel uncomfortable' until she consented.

UPDATE: Police shame teacher who had sex with pupil at Thorpe Park

Hubble had already pleaded guilty to three counts alleging sexual activity with a female as an adult abusing a position of trust.

They all involved one woman who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Prosecutors at his sentencing hearing said that the woman 'felt he had bribed her, bought things for her.'

Hubble took the woman - who prosecutors said was 'vulnerable due to her personal circumstances' - to a show in London and asked her to run away with him, which she declined.

During the six-month period of offending they also had sex multiple times including once in a car at Thorpe Park and once in his office.

Prosecutor Claire Fraser said: "The complainant describes that the time came when she didn't want to continue with the defendant, she wanted it to stop.

"He would say that he was miserable without her and would leave his wife for her.

"She says that she felt she was in a really difficult position."

After Hubble was arrested for the offences 36 indecent images were also discovered on his phone.

Those images were of the woman's exposed breasts and genitalia.

In mitigation his defence barrister Alistair Grainger said that Hubble had sent messages to the woman which were 'almost cringe worthy' and desperate.

He added that Hubble was remorseful for what he had done.

He said: "It has not been predatory behaviour as far as the commission of the offences are concerned.

"The sex was consensual and mutual to start with."

He went on to say that Hubble's 'excellent career' had been de-railed as a result of the offences.

He said: "He will never teach his passion for music. He will never be able to imbue these skills to other people."

Sentencing, Judge Ian Pringle QC called the relationship 'wholly, utterly inappropriate.'

He added: "I accept that the sexual side of things was perhaps initiated more by her than you.

"But it requires two people in a relationship to make things happen."

Hubble was handed a 12-month jail term, suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

He will further pay a £140 victim surcharge and £200 court costs.
