TRIBUTES have poured in for an pensioner who died following a car crash in Southampton.

Maureen Weir, of Shales Road, Southampton has been described as a loving, kind, honest and generous mum, nan and great-nan.

The 81-year-old had been driving her blue Toyota Aygo on Chalk Hill when she collided with a wall at around 8.40am, last Monday.

Her family have now come forward to pay tribute to her.

In a statement, they said: “Maureen was sadly taken away from us in a tragic accident, before her time. She will be forever in our hearts and our thoughts.

“All our love, hugs and kisses. Marilyn, Yvonne & Dave, Karly, Mike, Laura & Meg, and partners.

“Kisses from little Isla, Ava & Aidan.

“We would like to pay special tribute to our loving, kind, honest and generous mum, nan and great-nan.

“She will be sadly missed. Night God Bless”

A police spokesperson said: “Enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing,

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have a dash cam in their vehicle and was driving on Chalk Hill at 8.40am last Monday, can call 101, quoting 44200015032.”

A post mortem by Dr Sanjay Jogai reported the causes of death as traumatic cardiac arrest and road traffic collision.

Senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson said the roads policing unit was making inquiries. He adjourned the inquest until June 29.
