Windsor Lions put on a good old 'do' for more than 120 senior citizens on Sunday.
The guests, from a variety of clubs and sheltered housing joined individuals who might not get out too often in being collected, fed and entertained by the members of the Lions at the SportsAble hall in Braywood Road, Maidenhead.
The Lions, all part of a leading local community services charity, treated the guests to a two-course cooked lunch with wine - accompanied by the dulcet tones of Italian Tenor Tony Liotti and musician Phil Phillips. This was followed by a couple of games of bingo and rounded off by a good old sing-song before everyone was transported back clutching a ‘goody bag’.
Lions President Judy Hill said ‘This is definitely one of our favourite events of the year. All the club members really enjoy seeing the ‘oldies’ having such a great time and we will be back next year!’
A ringing endorsement of the event came from Karen Page, manager at sheltered housing accommodation in Windsor from where almost 20 guests attended. She said: "Our residents are buzzing and telling everyone about it who will listen. It’s so nice to see them laughing and happy – some of them never go out."
