A courageous woman in her fifties suffered a head injury when a violent mugger chased and attacked her.

He got away with her handbag.

The incident happened at about 8.15pm on Friday, March 13 as she walked along Balmoral Close away from Burnham train station.

The attacker started following her, then threatened her - demanding her bag.

She tried to run and tried frantically to stop passing cars. But the victim chased her, pushing her to the ground and punching her in the head. He took her bags and ran towards Cippenham Recreation Ground.

The victim suffered a head injury as a result but did not require hospital treatment.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Sarah-Jayne Beedall, based at Slough police station, said: “I am appealing to anyone who might have information about this incident to get in touch.

“The victim tried to stop cars by standing in the road, so we believe there are a number of potential witnesses who have not yet come forward.

“Equally, I would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area that Friday evening."
