The page explains: "Some cold-hearted, greedy people stole this [the purse, containing £100] while her back was turned.

"At first she was not sure if it had maybe fallen out or got lost as she was in disbelief that people would steal from others.

"It was very upsetting and difficult to have to give her the news that the CCTV had been checked, and it showed the thieves stealing it from her bag.

"It was taken as she reached to grab an item from a shelf.

"At her age she is very independent, however she will probably understandably never want to go shopping again after this happened."

The employee fundraising for the pensioner would like to replace her stolen cash, and use any extra money to go towards gifts for the woman which may 'cheer her up' during the coronavirus pandemic.

Extra money will also go towards a charity supporting the elderly duting the pandemic, as requested by June's family

The employee said: "Most importantly, I would love to be able to restore her faith in the people of Tilehurst.

"Let’s show her that the majority of us are kind-hearted and helpful.

"Any donation big or small would mean so much!"
