ANGRY residents are venting their missed bin collection frustrations to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council (RBWM).

The council is under fire from residents who took to social media complaining their bins and/or recyclables have not been collected – with some saying theirs haven’t been collected since the introduction of the fortnight waste collection schedule on April 6.

One resident said their black bin has not been collected since April 2 with others saying big cardboard boxes which can’t fit in the blue bin (recycling) have not been picked up or left behind.

RBWM announced due to staff shortages – because of the public health crisis – at Serco, the company that provides waste and recycling service in the Royal Borough, black bins will be collected one week with recycling collected the following week.

A resident asked if the borough’s tip and garden waste centre could be re-opened to reduce fly-tipping which the council said its team will ‘consider’ this option but will ensure government’s social distancing measures are followed by staff and residents.

A spokesman from RBWM said: “Our team are working hard to ensure all of our residents have alternate weekly collections. Any missed collections should be reported online or over the phone and any ongoing issues are being escalated to Serco, out waste collection provider.

“The alternate weekly schedule was planned in great detail despite the short notice due to the ongoing pandemic we are dealing with and the small percentage of collections that have been missed have been dealt with.”
