Shoppers in Slough are being invited to have their say about ambitious plans to transform the Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre - by visiting a virtual exhibition.

The redevelopment of the site at the heart of Slough Town Centre aims to replace the existing shopping centre with a mixed-use scheme including new workspace, new homes, shops, culture and leisure uses with new public space.

The initial ideas for the redevelopment of the site, being led by British Land who manage the centre, are now available for local people to view online through the first virtual exhibition. It is an early opportunity to help shape the future development

Due to the Covid19/Coronavirus pandemic the first public consultation event, originally scheduled for March, was postponed.

While the Slough Central consultation website and virtual exhibition has now been launched, those with difficulties accessing the internet can get paper copies of the consultation materials on request. The team can be contacted on www.sloughcentral.com though email @sloughcentral.com or on 01753 394141.

The team is also hosting a series of video workshops with youth and community organisations to discuss the proposals. If you are part of a local community organisation contact the team.

Russell O’Hare, Development Director for the project, said: “We are committed to working with everyone in Slough to ensure they have the opportunity to shape the future of the Queensmere Observatory site. While this is our first formal consultation event the community team have been working closely with groups across Slough to hear their ideas for Slough Central and offer support in their response to the Covid-19 outbreak.”

The Slough Central team are encouraging local people to provide feedback on the initial proposals by May 10 but feedback provided after this date will still be considered.
