Missing out on lunch has enabled Windsor and Eton Rotarians to raise more than £4,000 for families in need - thanks to the help of a royal trust fund.
The Observer reported earlier in the month how members of the Rotary Club forced to cancel their weekly lunches because of lockdown decided to donate the money they saved to the Windsor Food Share, based at Dedworth Green Baptist Church in Smiths Lane.
They raised £2,000 and now the Prince Philip Trust Fund has agreed to match the amount, making a grand total of £4,000.
The Prince Philip fund was set up in 1977 to give help and support to people in need in the Royal Borough and is now chaired by the Earl of Wessex..
Food share volunteers now deliver food donated directly to peoples' houses to minimise contact.
Donors are invited to leave offerings of food outside the Baptist Church between 10am and 2pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
