Thames Valley Police have confirmed that following concerns from neighbours, they made a heartbreaking discovery in Burnham.
After a welfare check at a local property, they sadly discovered a resident and their dog, both passed away, beside each other.
Following the tragic discovery, one Maidenhead veterinary surgery took steps to ensure both had the burial they deserved.
Vets 4 Pets' branch in Maidenhead collected donations and have now raised enough to ensure that both the owner and the beloved pet can be buried alongside each other.
