FIREFIGHTERS are currently tackling a shrub fire on top of the Wrekin.
The fire was reported at 2.30pm on Friday, May 29 and three crews including the incident support unit, the light pumping unit, the Pinzgauer and the water carrier have been mobilised from Telford Central and Wellington as well as operations and hazmat officers.
Crews are using beaters and hosereel jets to tackle the fire, which is centred around an area of shrubland at the top of the hill.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging members of the public to stay away.
They said: "Fire fighters have been called to a fire at the popular beauty spot the Wrekin where five fire appliances with crews and three incident support units (ISU) are attending.
"Members of the public are being urged to stay clear of the area, to ensure access for emergency vehicles."
