More than 500 people across Berkshire have died in hospital having tested positive for coronavirus.

The latest figures from NHS England show the total number deaths of those under the care of three Berkshire NHS trusts has reached 533.

Up by a total of 21 deaths since May 21.

These figures are as of 5pm on Sunday, May 31.

It comes as nationally figures for those who have died following a positive test for covid-19 has surpassed 38,000.

NHS England announced 113 new coronavirus deaths on Sunday bringing the total number of confirmed hospital fatalities in the country to 38,489.

Latest NHS England figures show 341 people who have tested positive for Covid-19 have died under the care of Frimley Health NHS Foundation trust - which runs Wexham Park Hospital, Frimley Park and Heatherwood Hospital.

A total of 174 people have died in hospital having tested positive for coronavirus, under the care of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust is in charge of the Royal Berkshire Hospital as well as several other community bases such as West Berkshire Community Hospital in Newbury, and Townlands Hospital in Henley.

18 people under the care of Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have died, according to NHS England.
