Official figures show that eight more cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Buckinghamshire.

Public Health England figures show that 1,005 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Sunday morning (May 31) in Buckinghamshire, up from 997 the same time on Thursday. A week before, there were 983 cases.

It means cases have increased by 1 per cent over the weekend, lower than the rate of increase across the UK of 2 per cent.

They were among the 21,597 cases recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 192 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 274,762 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Sunday, up from 269,127 at the same point on Thursday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show. As of 5pm on Saturday, 38,489 had died.
