Another case of coronavirus has been recorded in Windsor and Maidenhead, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 293 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Thursday morning (June 4) in Windsor and Maidenhead, up from 292 the same time on Wednesday. A week before, there were 292 cases.

It means cases have increased by less than 0.5 per cent over the last 24 hours, lower than the rate of increase across the UK of 1 per cent.

They were among the 21,823 cases recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 60 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 281,661 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Thursday, up from 279,856 at the same point on Wednesday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show. As of 5pm on Wednesday, 39,904 people had died.
