High street pharmacy chain Boots has said it expects to cut more than 4,000 jobs as part of action to mitigate the “significant impact” of Covid-19 - and one of High Wycombe’s stores is shutting this weekend.
Signs have appeared in the window of the High Street shop in High Wycombe, saying it will close its doors for good on Saturday, July 11.
It comes as the company announced it will close 48 Boots Opticians stores.
Retail sales tumbled by 48 per cent over the past three months in the face of the pandemic, despite Boots keeping swathes of its stores open to customers.
Boots said that the cuts represent an “acceleration” of its transformation plans to improve profitably across the business.
The nearest store to the closing High Street one is in the Eden Centre.
