Cumbria Police is encouraging anyone who feels like they are struggling to cope to turn to one of the many organisations in the county that can help.

The force is urging anyone who needs someone to talk to to head to the North East and North Cumbria Suicide Prevention Network website.

The website features a list of organisations local to the area that can help people who need someone to talk to.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "The north of England has the highest rates of suicide in the UK and it is the leading cause of death in males aged 20 to 49 years old.

"The impact of suicide is devastating but it is preventable with the right support.

"If you or someone you know is struggling to cope, there are many organisations that can help."

"In an emergency situation always dial 999."
