Southampton residents are less happy, on average, with their doctors surgeries than the rest of the UK.
The GP Patient has revealed how the city’s doctor’s surgeries were rated for the past year.
The overall patient satisfaction levels for surgeries across the city have stayed consistent with the same time last year, figures have revealed.
On average 77 per cent of patients would rate their experience at their surgery as ‘good’ which is five per cent below average.
Residents were asked for their opinion on a variety of elements with practices, from booking appointments, waiting times, out-of-hours services and the quality of care given.
The GP Patient Survey for NHS England has been running since 2007, this year 740,000 responses were received nation-wide.
Fewer Southampton residents joined the survey this year compared to last with only 2,572 people taking part.
Cheviot Road surgery is the city’s most well-liked surgery, with 100 per cent of patients rating their overall experience as ‘good’.
Highfield Health and Stoneham Lane Surgery have overtaken last year’s most liked surgery, Lordshill, with a joint rating of over 95 percent.
Lordshill Health Centre dropped to a 90 percent ‘good’ rating from last year’s 95 per cent.
Whereas patients only 41 per cent of patients at the Living Well Partnership rated their overall experience as ‘good’.
The Living Well Partnership brings together Bitterne Park Surgery, Ladies Walk Practice, Weston Lane Surgery and St Lukes Surgery and Botley Surgery.
The partnership cares for over 42,000 patients and was recently rated as “requires improvement” by the Care Quality Commission.
Overall however, 14 surgeries remained below the national average for patient satisfaction.
This included: Old Fire Station Surgery (80 per cent), Raymond Road Surgery (80 per cent), Homeless Healthcare Team (78 per cent), The Shirley Health Partnership (77 per cent), Atherley House Surgery (75 per cent), Alma Road Surgery (74 per cent), Woolston Lodge Surgery (73 per cent), Aldermoor Surgery (70 per cent), Solent GP Surgery (70 per cent), Brook House Surgery (69 per cent), Victor Street Surgery (69 per cent), The Peartree Practice (66 per cent), The Living Well Partnership (41 per cent).
On average 58 per cent of Southampton residents found it easy to get through to someone from their surgery on the phone.
The helpfulness of receptionists was also surveyed, with Southampton GPs polling at 87 per cent being helpful.
