A LUCKY resident has scooped a mega £25,000 jackpot after winning the Buckinghamshire Lottery last week.

The winner, who did not want to be named, also helped his local football club Chalfont Wasps in picking up the prize.

This is because the lottery supports a number of good causes across the county, including sports clubs, animal charities, disability charities, local community centres and schools.

Players who purchase tickets see 60 per cent of their cash go directly to good causes they have chosen themselves or a larger good causes pot.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "I play the Lottery to help support my local football club, Chalfont Wasps.

“It’s so easy to do, and I know how much it helps improve their funding. I always pay monthly by direct debit so that I know my tickets are always included in the draw.”

Chalfont Wasps Football Club Chairman, Steve Waddington, added: “The Wasps’ have been participants in the Buckinghamshire Lottery since its inception.

“Through our efforts to promote the benefits to both the individual ticket holders and the club itself, we have been fortunate to have a healthy number of supporters.

“The club is run on a volunteer basis for our community and the additional funds raised through the lottery scheme really helps us to continue to provide football for both senior and junior players within a family-friendly social environment.

“Our supporters have had numerous cash wins and extra tickets over the years - but it was never expected, and absolutely fantastic, when one of our valued club members won the top prize of £25k!”

Buckinghamshire Lottery players can win a number of prizes even if they do not secure the jackpot of six matching numbers.

Runners up can get their hands on £2,000 in cash, while those who match two extra numbers can get another three tickets.

Tickets cost £1 each and are available at www.buckinghamshirelottery.co.uk.

Buckinghamshire Council’s communities chief, Gareth Williams, added: “This is such fantastic news, especially at the moment when everything around us is so uncertain.

“Buckinghamshire Lottery can really help organisations big and small across the county with much needed additional funding, and it is fabulous that the Buckinghamshire Lottery is able to offer residents huge wins like we’ve seen this week.
