FORMER pop idol and Australian heartthrob Jason Donovan is set to perform his biggest hits in a new show in Reading later this year.

The international performer - who got his big break on Australian soap Neighbours as Scott Robinson in 1986 - has made a name for himself across the world as a successful actor, singer and musicals star.

And now, he will be reliving the best of his career so far in a new live show called ‘Even More Good Reasons’, which comes to the Hexagon in Reading on Monday, October 18.

The show, which is taking in venues across the country, is a celebration of his debut album ‘Ten Good Reasons’, which came out 30 years ago, was the biggest selling album of 1989 and helped contribute to career sales of 13 million albums and four UK number one singles.

As well as all the favourite songs from his previous six albums, the 52-year-old will also be performing tunes from the musicals he has starred in over the years, including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, ‘Priscilla’ and ‘Sound of Music’ - all accompanied by a full live band.

Many of the tour dates have had to be rescheduled because of the coronavirus outbreak, but Jason said he is “absolutely thrilled” to be getting back out onto the road performing in front of his fans.

He said: “I’ll be heading out on the road to celebrate the 30th anniversary of my debut album ‘Ten Good Reasons’. 30 years? I can’t believe how the time has flown.

“It would be great to see you all, so you can sing along while I perform all my pop hits including ‘Too Many Broken Hearts’, ‘Especially For You’ and ‘Any Dream Will Do’.

“I’m also going to sing all my favourite songs from musicals and I’ll have my full band with me, so we’ll all have a fantastic time together.

“Having not done my own live shows for a while I can’t wait to get out there again amongst you all and deliver a new energetic show that is both personal, creative and reflective, something that is both nostalgic and just a bloody good night out.”

As this show is rescheduled from October 25, existing ticket holders do not need to do anything. You can buy tickets at whatsonreading.com/hexagon
