Monsters will be lurking in the shadows at Slough's Queensmere Observatory shopping centre from Monday- but it is all part of a plan to bring customers back.

The family fun 'safari story trail' is being organised as part of a plan to give families a safe reason to return to Slough.

Families will be invited to search Slough's main shopping centre and the High Street looking for 10 cute and colourful MonsterHeroes.

Using only smartphones, the safari allows everyone taking part to learn each MonsterHero’s name, story, and superpowers. Once all 10 MonsterHeroes are found, a free e-book that tells the story of their first team-up will be unlocked.

Over 100 Business Improvement Districts and councils across the UK are taking part in the MonsterHero Safari project, which has been sponsored by Wild in Art with the aim of raising over £100,000 for NHS Charities Together.

Chris Shaw, Queensmere Observatory centre manager at Slough said: “We are proud to be one of the many towns participating in this national campaign to help the retail in the shopping centre and Slough High Street. By joining in, you can raise much needed funds for the NHS and support our local businesses at the same time. We really hope to encourage visitors to explore the whole town centre while also enjoying a fun and rewarding activity.”

Slough Business Improvement District chief executive Craig Buckby said: “Hopefully the event will generate plenty of footfall for our businesses who have worked so hard over recent months and encourage people to come and explore Slough town centre in a safe and enjoyable way.

"We’ve been really pleased with the numbers of visitors that are now returning to the High Street and the Monster Hero Safari should give those figures another boost.”
