The first part of our weekly round-up of hearings at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court:
July 20
- Samuel Robinson, 32, of Ferry Lane, Bourne End. Possession of a class A drug (cocaine) in Maidenhead on January 17. Fined £500. Costs £135. Cocaine forfeited and destroyed.
- Andre Gibson, 18, of Gayhurst Road, High Wycombe. Racially/religiously aggravated harassment/alarm/distress by words/writing in High Wycombe on November 10, 2019. Used threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour and the offence was racially aggravated. Fined £120. Compensation £40. Costs £117.
- Aleksandr Artamonov, 36, of Hedgerley, Chinnor. Failure to provide a specimen when suspected of having been in charge of a vehicle in Beaconsfield on April 9. Fined £100. Costs £119. Disqualified from driving for 36 months.
- Aleksandr Artamonov, 36, of Hedgerley, Chinnor. Driving over the drink-drive limit in A355 Dorney Hill North, Beaconsfield on June 10. Fined £300. Disqualified from driving for 36 months.
July 21
- Ashley Phillips, 26, of St Huberts Close, Gerrards Cross. Driving over the drug-drive limit on Maidenhead Road, Windsor, on January 8, 2020. Fined £196. Costs £117.
- Jordan Araujo, 22, of Weller Close, Amersham. Assault by beating in Beaconsfield on August 18, 2019. Community order made – must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work. Restraining order. Compensation £1,000.
- Sukhjit Singh, 40, of Gomms Wood Close, Forty Green. Racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/a;arm/distress – words/writing. In Amersham on July 15, 2019 with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Community order made. Alcohol treatment required. Compensation £100. Costs £85.
- Perry Billington, 32, of Crest Road, High Wycombe. Driving over the drink-drive limit on Fingest Lane, Fingest, on June 16, 2020. Fined £120. Costs £119. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.
It is established in the UK that court cases should be heard in public.
This principle of open justice is acclaimed on a number of grounds: as a safeguard against judicial error, deterrent to perjury, to assist the deterrent function of trials and to permit the revelation of matters of public interest.
Costs include victim surcharge and courts charges.
