Firefighters have used four sets of breathing apparatus, three hose reels, three main jets, a light portable pump, and thermal imaging camera.

A cordon was put in place and gas and electrical supply to the property was isolated.

One man suffered the effect of breathing in smoke and has been treated by South Central Ambulance Service. Residents have been advised to avoid the area, stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed while the incident is being dealt with, due to the volume of smoke being produced.

As the firefighters worked into the evening the news emerging of serious damage to the house gets worse.
