Tributes have been paid to a woman who was found dead at home as her son and former husband, both from Maidenhead, appeared in court charged with murder.

Balvinder Gahir, 54, was discovered with serious head injuries at her house on Valley Road, in leafy Lillington, Leamington Spa, on Monday, August 24.

Emergency services attended the property at around 2.40am but she was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of police and paramedics.

Jasbinder Gahir, 57, and Rohan Gahir, 23, both of Maidenhead, appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with murder.

They were both remanded in custody and will next appear at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday, September 1.

In a tribute issued by Warwickshire Police, Balvinder's heartbroken family said: "With great sadness we announce that our dearest beloved daughter, sister and mum's life was taken from us all.

"She was the light of our life, with a golden kind heart, filled with so much love and happiness, her smile would light up the room with a thousand words, a beauty beyond beauty.

"Words cannot express how much we love you and will miss you.

"You lived life like there was no tomorrow, you saw many sorrows, yet always stayed positive and smiled and lived for today. You gave us hope and love.

"Our sweetest darling daughter, sister and mum, we hope you can rest in peace now. You will always be in our hearts our darling angel and never forgotten.

"Until we meet again xx."

A 15-year-old girl and a 28-year-old man, who were also arrested on suspicion of murder, have since been released on police bail.
