Meetings may be 'virtual' now but Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead's Soroptimist ladies still managed to team up with friends in Amsterdam.

Soroptimist president Sally Radford has organised regular Zoom meetings to replace the pre-Coronavirus get togethers at Fredrick's Hotel in Maidenhead.

The link with the Amsterdam Soroptimists Club was a great success, as the Berkshire members introduced themselves and got to talk about their various projects.

Guest speakers who have appeared by Zoom include regional president Denise Powell and club member Margaret Lenton who spoke about her experiences in the many roles that she has held, including headteacher at a Slough school and being the Mayoress of the Royal Borough.

Members continue to support a young woman called Asmita with the cost of studying for a law degree for five years in Nepal. This project is in memory of the late Pam Robotham, a well known solicitor in the Slough area, who was a Soroptimist for over 50 years. Asmita sends regular updates on her life and the progress she is making with her course.

In addition the Club is supporting Keisha Lorraine, a young girl in the Philippines so that she can get an education. The club is also committed to support local charities DASH and SHOC.

A recent fundraising project was a stall at a carboot sale which raised £250. Sadly the usual fundraising Garden Party and Spring quiz could not be held this year.
