Panto fans have received the 'magic' piece of news they had been hoping for - Cinderella will be going to the ball this Christmas.

In the middle of what has been a challenging time for theatres across the globe, Windsor's Theatre Royal has announced this week that it will be going ahead with its annual pantomime.

The theatres co-directors Anne-Marie and Jon Woodley released a statement on Tuesday, saying: “After such a difficult year for all of us, we have been absolutely overwhelmed by the support of our audiences and are thrilled to be able to repay their kindness by finding a way to present our much-loved pantomime.

Social distanced seating will limit the usual number of tickets available. So an extra week of performances is being laid on to enable as many families as possible to see the show.

Two legendary stars who have become Windsor favourites in recent years will be back - movie star and Bond girl Britt Ekland and the little fox with the big laugh … Basil Brush.

Joining them are two more Windsor favourites - calamitous comedian Kevin Cruise and dotty Dame Steven Blakeley in their 11th year in panto together at Windsor.

Steven as usual will be the show's writer.
