New 'community steering groups' launched in the Clewer and Dedworth areas of Windsor aim to 'empower' residents to put forward their own ideas and projects

Public housing providers Radian aim to run the five new groups in partnership with the Royal Borough and youth and community service providers - so that money spent in the areas can be channelled in the right direction.

The groups are being enthusiastically supported by Councillor Helen Price, who represents Clewer and Dedworth East on the Royal Borough.

She said: "This is such a great opportunity for Clewer and Dedworth residents to have their say on what we want our community to be like in future years. It’s also a chance to get involved to make sure it happens. Don't be shy, make your views known and together we can ensure it happens."

The five groups cover physical environment, health and wellbeing, community safety, employment and skills and community empowerment.

They will meet regularly throughout the year (most likely on a bi-monthly basis) to discuss projects and initiatives that will directly benefit the local community. Each group will feature residents from the area, representatives from local charities and support services as well as a councillor.

Michelle Dawson, managing director of community services at Radian Group, said: “We want community members to take the lead; we’re simply just here to help with the delivery. By bringing residents together with local support services and councillors we hope to create great conversations that lead to positive outcomes for all.”
