As new restrictions limit guests to just 15 - Windsor's historic 17th century Guildhall is setting the trend for the new look 'micro wedding'.

When restrictions were eased in August, the Guildhall saw a rush of couples wanting to tie the knot with 26 wedding ceremonies hosted in August and September to date. None of these weddings had more than 20 guests and five of them would have been under the limit of 15.

Jordan Evans, Events Coordinator at the Windsor Guildhall said: "During lockdown I spoke to lots of couples who were devastated that they couldn’t have the big, white wedding of their dreams.

"But many now realise that being married to the person they love is the most important thing during this unsettled time. At the Guildhall we have always specialised in ‘micro’ weddings, sometimes with groups of fifteen, at other times with just two guests – we’re always impressed with just how romantic the more intimate ceremonies can be.

"The recent ceremonies during the pandemic have actually been the most amazing. I think because the year has been so hard on everyone, getting married at the moment offers people that wonderful splash of positivity which we all need. The atmosphere is incredibly moving, and there is such good feeling towards the couple - all the more so coming out of such an unsettled year."
