Slough's parks are winners once again - as the Green Flag awards are announced by the Keep Britain Tidy charity.

Salt Hill Park has had a green flag since 2010, while Pippins Park has also been awarded its 10th and Herschel Park its ninth - just three of the 2,000 plus sites across the country to collect the accolade.

Cllr Natasa Pantelic, Slough Borough Council cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “I am delighted this is the 11th year we have received Green Flag Awards for some of our parks.

"Our parks team and volunteers work so hard to maintain our green spaces to such a high standard, especially with the challenges of this year. We know that having award winning spaces really contribute to the health and wellbeing of residents and visitors to our borough.”

Commenting on Slough's success, Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said: “This year, more than ever, our parks and green spaces have been a lifeline and we know that millions of people have used them to relax, meet friends, exercise or simply escape for a short time.

“It is testament to the incredible dedication and hard work of parks staff and volunteers that, despite the challenges that went along with record numbers of visitors, Slough Borough Council has achieved the highest international standards for Herschel Park, Salt Hill Park and Pippins Park demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
