Carers Rights Day next Thursday heralds a national campaign to help carers in their local community know their rights - and Slough is hosting two free virtual events to support it.

At least one in nine working people also support someone who is older, disabled or seriously ill – in Slough that’s 11,500 unpaid carers.

Slough Carers Support funded by the borough council has organised free virtual events.

On Friday, November 27, Special Voices (a group of parents/carers of children and young people with additional needs) will be hosting a virtual information day via Zoom, with guest speakers including Kinder. Look out on social media for more details and how to book.

Through the Carers UK digital offer, unpaid carers in Slough can access useful online resources including a carers forum and specially tailored apps, guides and training courses.

Alan Sinclair, Executive Director of People (Adults) at Slough Borough Council,said: “We know many of our residents experience challenges juggling their work and caring responsibilities, particularly given the additional responsibilities and pressures faced because of Covid-19.

"We recognise the role of carers is critical but without the right support, it can have an impact on individual’s health, job, finances and social life.
